Brave; noble in spirit ("Avir" means mighty, strong, or powerful, and can also refer to a bull).
(“The stout-hearted are plundered, they have slept their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands” – Psalms 76:6; also used by the sages to describe strong-willed or stubborn people, and in commentaries referring to the Babylonians as hard-hearted toward Israel.)

אַמִּיץ. מִתְנַהֵג בַּאֲצִילוּת ("אַבִּיר" מִשְׁמָעוֹ אַמִּיץ, חָזָק וְרַב כֹּחַ אוֹ כִּנּוּי לְשׁוֹר).
