Hyssop / Symbolic of Small / Insignificant Things

Hyssop / Symbolic of Small / Insignificant Things

Metaphorically: simple people, or people of little importance (hyssop is an aromatic plant also used as an edible herb called ORIGANUM).

("If a blaze falls on the cedars—what will the hyssops on the wall do? If a leviathan is caught on a hook—what will the small fish do? If a hook falls in a flowing stream—what will the puddle waters do?"—Moed Katan 25b; and: "For a good year you shall be inscribed and sealed, my beloved… behold, my beloved, I wonder how you placed the great cedar in Lebanon and went to the small hyssop on the wall"—Lekhet Yosher, Part 1, Orach Chaim, Section 1)
