One who contemplates ideas deeply. By metaphor: a dreamer. Someone who thinks much and does little.
(Shimon ben Shatach said to him: "Yanai the king! Stand on your feet and they will testify for you. You do not stand before us, but before Him who said 'and the world came to be' you stand... He said to him: Not as you say, but as your friends say. He turned to his right - they cast down their faces to the ground; he turned to his left - and they cast down their faces to the ground. הוֹגֵה דֵּעוֹת הַמַּעֲמִיק לַחֲשֹׁב. בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: חוֹלְמָנִי. מַרְבֶּה לַחֲשֹׁב וּמְמַעֵט לַעֲשׂוֹת.
