A student or disciple of a rabbi. By extension: someone whose knowledge is still limited (literally from Aramaic: 'son of the rabbi's house').

במליצה: תַּלְמִיד שֶׁל רַב. בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: מִי שידיעותיו עֲדַיִן מועטות (מִלּוּלִית מארמית: בֶּן שֶׁל בַּיִת הָרַב).
