Bottomless pit. By extension: a lowly state. Or: grave. (Originally, 'shachat' means a pit for trapping living creatures, a snare.)

בּוֹר תַּחְתִּית. בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: מַצָּב יָרוּד. אוֹ: קֶבֶר (שַׁחַת בַּמָּקוֹר מַשְׁמָע בּוֹר לִלְכִידַת בַּעֲלֵי חַיִּים, מַלְכֹּדֶת).
