The days between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. The ten days of penitence ("Keseh" named after the hidden moon at the beginning of the month; Keseh also means full moon. "Asor" – occurring on the tenth of Tishrei).

הַיָּמִים שֶׁבֵּין רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה לְיוֹם הַכִּפּוּרִים. עֲשֶׂרֶת יְמֵי תְּשׁוּבָה ("כָּסֶה" עַל שֵׁם הַלְּבָנָה הַמּוּסְתֶּרֶת בְּתְחִלַּת הַחֹדֶשׁ. כָּסֶה מַשְׁמָעוּתוֹ גַּם מְלֵא הַיָּרֵחַ. "עֶשֹׂר"- שֶׁחָל בַּעֲשִׂירִי לַחֹדֶשׁ תִּשְׁרֵי).
