Stubborn and rebellious son judged by the outcome of his deeds
A “stubborn and rebellious son” is punished severely based on the evil acts he is destined to commit, not necessarily for what he has already done; this is an exception to the general rule that a person is judged only for present deeds.
(“A rebellious and stubborn son is judged by the outcome of his deeds. The death of the guilty brings them pleasure and pleasure to the world… wine and sleep for the wicked brings them pleasure and pleasure to the world, and for the righteous—harm to them and harm to the world. Dispersion of the wicked brings pleasure to them and the world, but for the righteous—harm to them and harm to the world. 'בֵּן סוֹרֵר וּמוֹרֶה' נֶעֱנַשׁ בְּחֻמְרָה בִּגְלַל הַדְּבָרִים הָרָעִים שֶׁהוּא עָתִיד לַעֲשׂוֹת וְלָאו דַּוְקָא בִּגְלַל מָה שֶׁכְּבָר עָשָׂה עַד עַכְשָׁו (כְּלָל זֶה הִנּוֹ חָרִיג לַכְּלָל 'בַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא שָׁם 'וּלְפִיו אָדָם נִדּוֹן רַק עַל מַעֲשָׂיו בַּהוֹוֶה).
