In His Own Authority
‘In His Own Authority’ describes an independent power or jurisdiction, without external dependency or interference, the ability to act autonomously and decisively.
("She vowed while betrothed, was divorced from him by day, was betrothed to him by day, even to a hundred—her father and her last husband were fruitful with her vows. This is the rule: anyone who did not leave her own authority for one hour, her father and her last husband were fruitful with her vows" - Nedarim 71a, and also: "This great sea was in his own authority; it did not rise and flood the entire world for a light hour, but from within that it has a Creator, and it was prevented from harming the world" - Mishnat Rabbi Eliezer, Parashah 15, 280, and also: "From the time her intellect and her husband’s food were on the table of her fathers, they went out to their own authority" - Mendel Moos / Masaot Binyamin the Third, 3, 21)
