Rejected at the threshold
Rejected utterly from all and everything. The 'threshold' means a canopy, the doorway of the house, that is the lower lintel connecting between the two doorposts of the door, opposite the entrance lintel to the house.
("And her master rose early in the morning and opened the doors of the house and went out to go his way; and behold, his concubine was fallen down at the doorway, and her hands were on the threshold" - Judges 19:27 (The incident of the concubine in Gibeah), and likewise: "Do not look despairing / that you were not alone in the tents where you saw the serpent's tracks / on the threshold" - Natan Yonatan / you, me forgetting)
