Small fish/ small fry/ common folk

Small fish. Fry. By analogy: a person insignificant or unimportant in the organization (A cracker meaning thin and flattened, hence 'rekak' meaning an egg or a small body of water).

(“‘If a blaze fell among the cedars—what can the wall-hyssops do? If a Leviathan was caught on a hook—what can the small fish do? If a net fell into a rushing river—what can the waters of the pools do?’” (Moed Katan 25b), and likewise: “Even in the eyes of a carp, a fish is counted, and the wolf of the waters is also worthy of a meal, even these small fish” (Sholem Aleichem, Flavors of Milk, p. 218), and likewise: “At that hour all the small fish opened their voices and began to roll and say…” (Agnon, Ir U’Melo’ah, p. 632).)
