Innocent Blood
The blood of a person innocent of sin. Innocent of sin who was killed.
("And innocent blood shall not be shed in the midst of your land, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance, and so it shall be upon you blood" (Deuteronomy 19:10), and also: "And the sun turned into the stain of your innocent blood / the mark of Cain upon the forehead of the world and a sign of failure" (H.N. Bialik / I Knew on a Foggy Night), and also: "And I asked the great judge to renew the judgment, perhaps the matter will be clarified so as not to kill innocent blood" (S.Y. Agnon / Stories of the Baal Shem Tov, The Tax Servant).
