The text speaks of what exists; the sages spoke of what exists; the Torah spoke of what exists.
The Torah speaks of actual existence. Its guiding principle is that whatever is written in the Torah or Talmud deals with things that exist in reality.
("And likewise beast and bird, like them. If so, why is it said ox or donkey? Rather, that the written word speaks in the present" - Bava Kamma 54b, and likewise: "If it is in you—and not in others, a certain individual from the minor, who will not be pure by nightfall—I have only impurity by night. Where is impurity by day? - The Talmud says, which will not be pure from 'm'. הַתּוֹרָה מְדַבֶּרֶת עַל הַמְּצִיאוּת הַהֹוֶה. כְּלָל לְפִיו מָה הַכָּתוּב בַּתּוֹרָה אוֹ בַּתַּלְמוּד עוֹסֵק בִּדְבָרִים הַמְּצוּיִים בַּמְּצִיאוּת.
