Speaking Evil Speech/ to gossip
To say evil words about a person. To speak derogatory words and gossip. According to Torah law, 'lashon hara' also includes true derogatory speech.
("Do not set your mouth to speak evil speech, to defile your flesh and to bring leprosy upon your body, as it is said, 'This shall be the law of the leper who utters a slanderous name'" - Yalkut Shimoni, Kohelet, Remez 419; and similarly: "His understanding weakened, Rabbi Yeshayah began to speak lashon hara about the rabbi and about his sermon that he delivered" - Ch. אָמַר דִּבְרֵי רֵעִים עַל אָדָם. דִּבֵּר דִּבְרֵי גְּנַאי וּרְכִילוּת. ע"פ דִּין תּוֹרָה לְ'לָשׁוֹן הָרַע' נֶחֱשָׁבִים גַּם דִּבְרֵי גְּנַאי אֲמִתִּיִּים.
