Gentle reproof/ mild admonition/ reproof/ rebuke

Words of persuasion. Requests and claims. Or: Words of reproof that come from the heart. Words that can 'subdue' the heart.

(‘What is the order of fast days? They bring out the ark into the public square of the city and place ashes from the hearth upon the ark, and on the head of the Nasi, and on the head of the head of the court. And each and every one places it upon his own head. The eldest among them says before them words of admonition’” (Ta’anit 15a), and likewise: “And it became the custom for all to arise at night during these ten days and to pray in the synagogues with words of supplication and words of admonition until daylight” (Maimonides, Book of Knowledge, Laws of Repentance, ch. 3, 4), and likewise: “And he spoke to him harsh words of admonition, as tough as sinews, until he brought him back to the good path, and he became soft and submissive as before” (Mendele Mocher Sforim, The Travels of Benjamin the Third), and likewise: “He wipes his sweat with the corner of his garment and addresses me with words of admonition: How can an orphaned boy like you not be ashamed to wander in the marketplaces?” (Sholem Aleichem, The Wedding Day of My Brother Eliyahu), and likewise: “And after the afternoon prayer, the preacher stands and delivers words of admonition in order to awaken the heart” (Agnon, Only Yesterday, p. 428).)
