No man sins except for his own advantage

No man sins except for his own advantage

No one commits a sin or crime from which he does not benefit. This principle holds that a person is willing to commit a sinful act only if he himself will profit from it, and he is not willing to sin for the sake of others.

("But the presumption is that no man sins except for his own advantage" - Bava Metzia 5b)
