These and those are the words of the living God
Both these views and those are valid interpretations of the Torah or of God's words. All opinions brought in a dispute, even if they contradict each other, are considered legitimate Torah teachings, since the Torah is open to multiple interpretations, as the saying goes: 'seventy faces to the Torah.'
("Rabbi Abba said in the name of Shmuel: For three years, Beit Shammai and Beit Hillel disagreed. These say: The law is according to us, and those say: The law is according to us. A heavenly voice went forth and said: Both these and those are the words of the living God, but the law is according to Beit Hillel. And since both these and those are the words of the living God, why did Beit Hillel merit to have the law established as they said? Because they were pleasant and humble, and they would teach both their own words and those of Beit Shammai. Moreover, they would even mention Beit Shammai's opinions before their own." - Eruvin 13b. Also: "One should not disparage the receiver, even if the law does not follow him, since he received them from heaven. Therefore, truly, both these and those are the words of the living God, and why the law does not follow him—this we cannot understand or grasp." - Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, Likutei Moharan, Torah 56. Also: "And the simple readers are astonished and say: Our books are contradictory...Nonetheless, both these and those are the words of the living God, and it is not difficult—this is for us...and this is for them." - Berdyczewski, Writings, II, 18)
