Et Vahev Besofah
A midrashic term for Torah scholars who fiercely debate at first (a 'battle'), and afterwards (in the end) love one another. Alternatively: the wars of the LORD at the Sea of Reeds and at the Arnon brook, according to Tur Sinai in his book Peshuto Shel Mikra, I, 167.

כִּנּוּי מִדְרָשִׁי לְתַלְמִידֵי חֲכָמִים הַמִּתְנַצְּחִים בְּלִמּוּד בַּתְּחִלָּה ("מִלְחָמָה"), וְאַחַר כָּךְ (בְּסוֹפָהּ ) אוֹהֲבִים זֶה אֶת זֶה. אוֹ: מִלְחָמוֹת ה' בְּיַם סוּף וּבַנַּחַל אַרְנוֹן, עפ"י טוּר סִינַי בְּסִפְרוֹ פשוטו שֶׁל מִקְרָא, א ,167).
("עַל כֵּן יֵאָמַר בְּסֵפֶר מִלְחֲמֹת ה' אֶת וָהֵב בְּסוּפָה וְאֶת הַנְּחָלִים אַרְנוֹן"- בְּמִדְבַּר כא יָד, וכן: "אֲפִלּוּ הָאָב וּבְנוֹ, הָרַב וְתַלְמִידוֹ, שֶׁעוֹסְקִין בַּתּוֹרָה בְּשַׁעַר אֶחָד נַעֲשִׂים אוֹיְבִים זֶה אֶת זֶה, וְאֵינָם זָזִים מִשָּׁם עַד שֶׁנַּעֲשִׂים אוֹהֲבִים זֶה אֶת זֶה, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: אֶת וָהֵב בַּסּוּפָה, אַל תִּקְרֵי בְּסוּפָה אֶלָּא בְּסוֹפָהּ"-תַּלְמוּד בָּבְלִי מַסֶּכֶת קִדּוּשִׁין ל ע"ב. .
