Great is Peace That Even the Holy One Blessed Be He Changed It
Acts of kindness and giving charity are more important than many things considered most important.
"Great is the peace that even the Holy One Blessed Be He changed it, as it is written 'And my lord is old' and also 'At last I have become old' (meaning: the value of peace is so great that even the Holy One Blessed Be He altered the words when repeating Sarah’s words before Abraham, so Abraham would not be offended; instead of Sarah saying Abraham ‘my lord is old,’ He said to Abraham that she said she herself ‘has grown old’)" - Yalkut Shimoni Torah, Parashat Vayechi, Remez 162. And similarly: "And so was Rabbi Elazar the Kohen saying, Love peace and hate strife. Great is peace that even when Israel served foreign gods and there was peace among them, the Holy One Blessed Be He said, I do not desire to afflict them, as it is stated 'Ephraim is surrounded with idols, let him alone'" - Masechtot Ketanot, Masechet Derech Eretz, Chapter 7.

עֶרְכּוֹ שֶׁל הַשָּׁלוֹם כָּל כָּךְ גָּדוֹל שֶׁמֻּתָּר לְשַׁקֵּר מְעַט לְמַעֲנוֹ כְּדֵי לִמְנֹעַ מְרִיבָה.
