The Holy One Blessed Be He heals bitterness with bitterness, and man heals bitterness with sweetness
Question: God heals with medicine that resembles the disease, or with true medicine that goes to the root of the problem. The medicine that God gives is good even if it is bitter, but man heals with temporary medicine that only gives relief and a feeling of sweetness. Or: One can view the difficulties in life with such a loving eye that only good will emerge from them, because everything is for the good of man. Bitterness is the difficulty or the low point that becomes a challenge and a jumping-off point from which man rises again and again.
("You find flesh and blood, struck with a scalpel and healed with a spear, and God is not like that except in the wound that He strikes, there is healing. And so you find when they came to Marah and they could not drink the water of Marah, and Moses believed that God was telling him to throw a stick or a thorn there and the water would be cured. See what is written there. And Moses cried out to God, and God showed him a tree. The Blessed One said to Moses, "My ways are not like the ways of flesh and blood...and what is the tree that Rabbi Joshua Omer says was of the willow...it was bitter from every place." Rashbarg Omer says, "Come and see how wonderful the ways of the Blessed One are, far from the ways of flesh and blood. Flesh and blood with sweetness cure the bitterness, but the Blessed One with bitterness cures the bitterness." Is it a game? - Noten The word of the healer within the word of the healer to perform a miracle within a miracle... The Lord said to Moses, "Not so, I believe, but, in that which I strike, I heal. Go, and the waters are bitter; I heal with bitter words." - Midrash Tanchuma (Warsaw) Parashah Bishlah Simeon Kad, and so: "Come and see how the interpreter of my ways Flesh and blood from the paths of a place Flesh and blood that is sweet cures bitterness But He who said, "And the world was," is not so. But bitterness cures bitterness. It is like giving a thing eaten to a thing eaten in order to perform a miracle." - Mechilata Darbi Shimon bar Bar Yochai, Chapter 12, and so on: "Remember the difference/ between He who said, "And the world was" Between/flesh and blood: Flesh and blood with sweetness heals/ the bitterness, and who said, "And the world was/with bitterness heals the bitterness" - Jonathan gave/ The rain of June)
