To make a person blush/ put to shame/ (insult/ putting to shame)

To shame or insult one's friend with the insolence of men (literally: to turn one's friend's face pale because of the intensity of the insult that caused the blood to drain from the face).

("He who deceives his fellowman in many ways and breaks the covenant of Abraham, peace be upon him, and he who reveals to us the Torah that is not a law, even though he has the Torah in his hand and good deeds, he has no portion in the world to come" - Avot 3:1, and so: "Do not look at the one who is like a flame that will burn (Proverbs 23) - Do not look at the one who is like a flame that will burn the faces of the wicked in this world. "And they turn their faces to the world to come" - Sanhedrin, A.A., and so: "Every one of them...even though they are of Israel, they have no portion in the world to come...And these are they: He who calls his friend by his nickname, and who turns his face to his friend in many ways, and who is proud of his friend's disgrace..." - Rambam/ Sefer Hamada, Hilchot Teshuvah, Chapter 3, 156, and so on: "And he made the face of Benjamin bright with many, until they made it a sign and a proverb, and the young men saw him without and were envious of him" - Mendel's Hebrews/ Masaot Binyamin Hashlishi, 9, 33, and so on: "Blessed is he whose day is not ashamed of his night/ He did not make the face of his lover bright./ Blessed is he whose light is bright. The whiteness that he has/ did not reveal the blackness of his heart" - Leah Goldberg/ Today's Praises, 2, and so: "There was a war in my soul: If I said, "His face is white with many, I would have restrained him and not said, "A rope on a bear of wisdom is so sharp that he would not say" - Life of His Grandmother/ Like the Wings of Darkness, 113)
