Prepare Yourself to Study Torah That Is Not Inherited to You
Learning and knowledge are not inherited. Prepare yourself to learn Torah, the knowledge of which is not attained without effort, and this is different from the inheritance that comes to man.
("Rabbi Yosei Omer says, "Mammon, your friend, will be dear to you as your own, and you will establish yourself to learn Torah that will not be inherited by you, and all your deeds will be for the name of heaven" - Avot 2:11-12)

הַלִּימּוּד וְהַיֶּדַע אֵינָם בָּאִים בִּירֻשָּׁה .הָכֵן אֶת עַצְמְךָ לְלִמּוּד תּוֹרָה שֶׁיְּדִיעָתָהּ אֵינָהּ מֻשֶּׂגֶת לְלֹא מַאֲמָץ,וְזֹאת בְּשׁוֹנֶה מִיְּרֻשָּׁה שֶׁמַּגִּיעָה לָאָדָם.
