And You Shall Choose Life
A commandment to choose life. A person must choose to live meaningful lives through doing good. The saying also emphasizes the sanctity of life.
("I call to you today the heavens and the earth, the living and the dead, I have set before you the blessing and the curse, and you shall choose life, that you and your descendants may live" - Devarim 319, and so: "We have heard from Rabbi Yishmael: "And you shall choose life," this is the truth" - Talmud Yerushalmi Sota 9, 12)

צִיוּוּי לִבְחֹר בַּחַיִּים. עַל הָאָדָם לִבְחֹר לִחְיוֹת חַיִּים בַּעֲלֵי מַשְׁמָעוּת טוֹבָה תּוֹךְ עֲשִׂיַּת הַטּוֹב. פִּתְגָּם הַמַּדְגִּישׁ גַּם אֶת קְדֻשַּׁת הַחַיִּים.
