How lovely the sifsuf we ate in our childhood compared with the peaches we ate in our old age
By way of metaphor: in childhood, people know how to enjoy and appreciate the small things. The flavor of childhood, or nostalgia, adds charm to the simple things that existed in the past. (Sifsuf means fruit that ripens late.)

בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: בַּיַּלְדוּת יוֹדְעִים לְהֵינוּת וּלְהַעֲרִיךְ אֶת הַדְּבָרִים הַקְּטַנִּים. טַעַם הַיַּלְדוּת, אוֹ הַנּוֹסְטַלְגִּיָּה, מוֹסִיף חֵן לַדְּבָרִים הַפְּשׁוּטִים שֶׁהָיוּ בֶּעָבָר (סִפְסוּף מַשְׁמָע פֵּרוֹת הַמְּאַחֲרִים לְהַבְשִׁיל).
