ignorant old men-the older they get the greater their folly/ no fool like an old fool

Old people who are consumed with knowledge and who have never acquired wisdom tend to behave in a confused or bewildered manner (deafened, lost, broken).

("Rabbi Shimon ben Akashia says: The elders of the people of the land, all the time that they grow old, their knowledge is from a predator, as it is said (Job 12): "He takes away the tongue of the faithful, and the taste of the elders is taken away." But the elders of the Torah are not like that, but all the time that they grow old, their knowledge is from a dwelling, as it is said (Job 12): "With sixty years of wisdom." "And with length of days comes understanding" (Genesis 3:6)
