In question: The pleasures of the world. The life of the worldly person and its pleasures. The meaningless material things are compared to the eternal life in the world to come.

("And a man who is occupied with the vanities of this world will not die in his glory, as if to say that his glory will remain at his death, but his soul will not perish like the soul of the beasts.
