His old age did not shame his youth
His behavior in old age was dignified and good, just as it had been in his youth (see also: "His youth did not shame his old age").
("Hasidis and men of action - let us say Rabban: There are some among them who say, "Blessed is our childhood, which does not disgrace our old age" - these are Hasidim and men of action, and there are some among them who say, "Blessed is our old age, which atones for our childhood" - these are the ones who repent. These and these say, "Blessed is he who does not sin, and he who has sinned, returns and is forgiven" - Sukkah (tent)
