Like the doorstep of a house that people step on. Figuratively: something despised, something trampled underfoot (askuppah means doorstep).

כְּמוֹ מִפְתַּן הַבַּיִת שֶׁדּוֹרְכִים עָלָיו. בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: כְּדָבָר שֶׁבָּזִים אוֹתוֹ. כְּדָבָר שֶׁרוֹמְסִים בָּרַגְלַיִם (אַסְקֻפָּה מַשְׁמָע סַף הַבַּיִת).
