("Why do men sacrifice oxen and they will kiss?" Rabbi Yitzchak said in the name of Rabbi Ammi: That there were vintners who fixed their eyes on masters of wealth, and starved the oxen, and made images of idols and placed them beside their fodder, and brought them outside; when the oxen saw them, they ran after them and rubbed against them. אָדָם בַּעַל כֶּסֶף רַב. עָשִׁיר.
("מַאי זֹבְחֵי אָדָם עֲגָלִים יִשָּׁקוּן? אָמַר רַבִּי יִצְחָק דְּבֵי רַבִּי אַמֵּי: שֶׁהָיוּ כּוֹמָרִים נוֹתְנִים עֵינֵיהֶם בְּבַעֲלֵי מָמוֹן, וּמַרְעִיבִים אֶת הָעֲגָלִים, וְעוֹשִׂין דְּמוּת עֲצַבִּים וּמַעֲמִידִין בְּצַד אֲבוּסֵיהֶן, וּמוֹצִיאִין אוֹתָן לַחוּץ, כֵּיוָן שֶׁרָאוּ אוֹתָן- רָצִין אַחֲרֵיהֶן וּמְמַשְׁמְשִׁין בָּהֶן. אוֹמְרִים לוֹ: עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה חָפֵץ בְּךָ, יָבֹא וְיִזְבַּח עַצְמוֹ לוֹ"- סַנְהֶדְרִין סג ע"ב)
