Tosafists, the Tosafot/ annotators of the Talmud

Tosafists, the Tosafot/ annotators of the Talmud

A commentary on the Talmud written by a group of sages and rabbis over a period of about two hundred years in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.

("And it is known that the blood of eggs is forbidden only rabbinically, specifically when found in the chalmon (egg white), but if found in the chalbon (egg yolk), one may discard the blood and eat the rest. This is the opinion of Rabbi Alfasi, of blessed memory (Chullin, chapter 'These are the Treifot'). However, the opinion of the Tosafists, of blessed memory (Chullin 64b: 'and he') is that if the blood is found in connection either with the chalmon or with the chalbon, it is forbidden." - Rabbeinu Bechaye on Vayikra chapter 7)
