No homage is to be paid to a Rabbi where there is desecration of the Name
A place where people disrespect religion through their behavior is also a place where the Rabbi is not honored.
("Rav said: Whoever wears mixed fabrics in his garment, even in the market, what is the reason? (Proverbs 21) There is no wisdom, no understanding, and no counsel before the Lord – wherever the Name is desecrated, no homage is paid to the Rabbi" – Berakhot 19b)

מָקוֹם שֶׁבּוֹ אֲנָשִׁים מְבַזִּים בְּהִתְנַהֲגוּתָם אֶת הַדָּת הֲרֵי שֶׁגַּם לֹא מְכַבְּדִים אֶת הָרַב.
