Hyle / Primeval Matter/ formless matter

Primeval matter. Original matter from which the world developed. By analogy: raw matter before it takes any form whatsoever.

("Now the Pharisee heard the plain and clear explanation. The Blessed One created all creatures from absolute nothingness... But He brought forth from the absolute nothingness a very fine substance, in which there is no substance, but it is a force that produces, prepared to receive form, and to proceed from force to action, and it is the first substance, called by the Greeks "the first substance."
