No man makes himself out to be a villain
A person is not inclined to incriminate himself or say bad things about himself when testifying or speaking about himself. Or: it is human nature to blame others rather than admit one's own guilt.

אֵין אָדָם נוֹטֶה לְהַפְלִיל אֶת עַצְמוֹ אוֹ לוֹמַר עַל עַצְמוֹ דְּבָרִים רָעִים כְּשֶׁהוּא מֵעִיד אוֹ מְסַפֵּר עַל עַצְמוֹ. אוֹ: דַּרְכָּם שֶׁל בְּנֵי הָאָדָם לְהַאֲשִׁים אֲחֵרִים וְלֹא לְהוֹדוֹת בְּאַשְׁמָתָם שֶׁלָּהֶם.
