The donkey brays only when a basket of carobs is before it
The donkey makes noise only when it has food available. Figuratively: a person becomes arrogant or rebellious only when enjoying abundance. A proverb similar to 'A lion does not roar from a basket of straw but from a basket of meat' (kefifah means basket).
