One does not question the preacher

One does not question the preacher

A rule of etiquette meaning that one should not interrupt a person delivering a sermon with remarks or questions.

("He argued with Rabbi Akiva about the poor of Israel and not about the Cutheans, and even regarding Metonia, one does not question the preacher—meaning that our father Abraham, of blessed memory, acted also to fulfill the obligation toward the sect, and not because he was required by law" — Rabbi Eliyahu Yaloz, Responsa Yesh Me'Ayin, Siman 14).
