Rather, to tell you: whenever Israel looked upward and subjugated their hearts to their Father in Heaven, they prevailed; if not, they fell. Likewise, it is said (Numbers 21): 'Make for yourself a fiery serpent and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.'
