He who practice charity in secret is greater than Moses/ the practice of charity is greater than all the rituals and sacrifices

The one who practices charity in secret is greater than Moses our teacher, and the one who performs charity is greater than all sacrifices. Performing kindness and giving charity is considered more important than many things regarded as most important, according to Torah and Mishnah teachings.

(Rabbi Elazar said: Great is the one who practices charity in secret, greater than Moses our teacher, for regarding Moses it is written (Deuteronomy 9) 'For I feared the anger and the wrath,' and regarding one who does charity it is written (Proverbs 21) 'A gift in secret pacifies anger' - Bava Batra 9b. And likewise: Rabbi Elazar said: Great is the one who performs charity more than all the sacrifices, as it is written (Proverbs 21) 'Perform charity and justice, it is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice' - Sukkah 40b.)
