Great is Understanding Before the Holy One, More than the Torah
Torah study must be combined with the wisdom that deepens one’s understanding of its meaning.
("Immediately Moses went and returned in all their dwellings of Israel to seek from them those with understanding but found none, as it is said (Deuteronomy 1): 'And I took the heads of your tribes, wise and known men,' and found no discerning ones. לִמּוּד הַתּוֹרָה חַיָּב לִהְיוֹת מְשֻׁלָּב בַּחָכְמָה הַמַּעֲמִיקָה לְהָבִין אֶת מַשְׁמָעוּתָהּ.
