Middle Age, Middle Years

The period of life before old age.

(“And in this quality Joseph, and Daniel and his companions were praised. Beauty is placed in a person in the years of ascent, and strength in the years of standing… Afterwards he brought proof regarding strength, which are the years of standing, as it is said: ‘The glory of young men is their strength.’ And the essence of strength is that one overcome his inclination.” — Merkavot HaMishnah to Avot 6 “And indeed it is well known that the way of the wicked, may their name be erased, was to kill according to age groups: to put to death first the elderly, or those in the years of standing, before the young men fit for labor.” — Responsa Heikhal Yitzhak, Even HaEzer II, no. 79)
