Were it not for jealousy, the world would not exist
If there were no jealousy in the world, it could not exist. In certain cases, jealousy brings benefit by creating competition that improves human achievements, as in the saying “the jealousy of scholars increases wisdom.”

אִם לֹא הָיְתָה הַקִּנְאָה בָּעוֹלָם הֲרֵי שֶׁהוּא לֹא הָיָה יָכוֹל לְהִתְקַיֵּם. קִנְאָה בְּמִקְרִים מְסֻיָּמִים מְבִיאָה תּוֹעֶלֶת בְּכָךְ שֶׁבִּזְכוּתָהּ בָּאָה תַּחֲרוּת הַמְּשַׁפֶּרֶת אֶת הַהֶשֵּׂגִים הָאֱנוֹשִׁיִּים בִּבְחִינַת 'קִנְאַת סוֹפְרִים תַּרְבֶּה חָכְמָה'.
