A small gain is preferable to having nothing at all. Sometimes it is better to achieve a little than to lose everything.
("If a person has no one to pour nine kavin of water over him, and likewise has no proper vessel so that the water will be poured over him without his hands, he should fill his own vessel with water, place it on something high, let it pour over him, and quickly move the vessel from his hand and place it over his forearms and hands.
