Preferable are a poor life that includes tranquility to a wealthy life full of quarrels or inner tension. A proverb emphasizing the importance of domestic peace, which is preferable to a house full of every good thing but with conflict.

("Better a dry crust and tranquility in it than a house full of feasting and strife" — Proverbs 17:1; and similarly: "R. Yohanan said: Better a dry crust—this is the land of Israel, where even if a person eats bread and salt there every day and lives there, he merits the World to Come. 'Than a house full of feasting and strife'—this is outside the land" — Yalkut Shimoni on Proverbs 17).
