Something known to every person of understanding; elementary knowledge. (In Aramaic, "bar bei rav" means a student of a scholar.)

דָּבָר הַיָּדוּעַ לְכָל בַּר דַּעַת. יֶדַע אֵלֵמֶנְטָרִי (בַּר בֵּי רַב בַּאֲרָמִית מַשְׁמָע תַּלְמִיד שֶׁל חָכָם).
