There is a basis for the Masorah/ the traditional biblical text is authoritative
An interpretive principle for biblical verses according to which a word may be explained based on the way it is written in the text, not only on the way it is pronounced; it takes the ketiv into account, not just the qere, and also the form of the vowel markings.
("Taniyya, Rabbi said to them, "And why did it say (Devarim 19) 'And the seed of the iron is its wood?' And did it not say 'But from the tree!'....Rav Hayyah bar Ashi said, 'Rav,' and the two of them, from one source, taught: 'And the seed of the iron is from the tree.'" Rabbi Sabar said: There is a reason for the tradition, 'And the seed', as it is written: And Rabban Sibar said: There is a reason for the source, 'And the seed'. "Karianan" - Makhoth 7 A"b, and so on: "Rabbanan Sabri believes that there is a tradition, 'You shall dwell in booths for seven days' - Rav Obadiah Yosef/ Anaf Etz Avos, Raz)
