הגדרה (אנגלית)

An arbitration procedure in which each party to the dispute chooses an arbitrator they prefer, and then the two arbitrators select a third to sit with them to judge the case. 'Zevel'a' is an acronym for: 'ze borer lo echad' ('this one chooses one').

("Monetary cases are judged by three: this one chooses one and that one chooses one, and together they choose a third, according to Rabbi Meir. But the Sages say: two judges choose a third for them" - Sanhedrin 3a; also: "Rabbi Yirmiyah bar Abba said 'zevel'a and zevel'a.'
