גֶּחָלִים לוֹחֲשׁוֹת
גֶּחָלִים שֶׁעֲדַיִן בּוֹעֲרוֹת בְּחֶלְקָן הַפְּנִימִי. גִּזְרֵי עֵץ שֶׁאֵשׁ קְטַנָּה עֲדַיִן בְּקִרְבָּם (גֶּחָלִים לוֹחֲשׁוֹת מַשְׁמִיעוֹת קוֹל חַלָּשׁ הַמַּזְכִּיר לְחִישָׁה).

Coals that are still burning in their inner part. Pieces of wood with a small fire still inside them (Glowing coals emit a faint sound reminiscent of a whisper).
("And he took a full pan of burning coals" (Vayikra 16:12) - Jonathan's Targum: 'And he surrounded and filled a pan full of coals burning with fire.' Also (Berakhot 53b): The Rabbis taught: Glowing coals - one blesses over them; dumb coals - one does not bless. What is meant by 'glowing'? Rav Chisda said: Whenever one inserts a twig inside and it ignites from it. Also: 'And the old white man descends... and the curls are curled... and the eyes have the life of a dove, truly glowing coals' (Y.L. Peretz / Chaim Yonah Vitles, 42).
