A Father Who Forgoes His Honor—His Honor Is Forgiven
A father has the right to forgo the respect or honor due to him from his children; his waiver is valid and accepted.
("Rabbi Yitzḥak bar Sheila said in the name of Rav Mattana, who said in the name of Rav Ḥisda: A father who forgoes his honor—his honor is waived; but a teacher who forgoes his honor—his honor is not waived. הָאָב מֻרְשֶׁה לִמְחֹל עַל כְּבוֹדוֹ בִּיחָסָיו עִם יְלָדָיו.
