One possessing the ability to endure or exist. By extension: stable and firm (in Aramaic: בַּר means son, קיימא means existence or continuity).
"And on the eighth day his flesh of the foreskin shall be circumcised. בַּעַל יְכֹלֶת קיום. בְּהַשְׁאָלָה: יַצִּיב וְאֵיתָן (בארמית: בַּר מַשְׁמָע בֶּן. קיימא מַשְׁמָע קיום אוֹ הַתְמָדָה).
