Petty strictness about insignificant matters or any small financial expense can cause a person to lose emotional or intellectual balance. The troubles and difficulties arising from the sufferings of poverty or from excessive exactitudes can bring a person to evil and vain thoughts about himself or about his God.

הַקְפָּדוֹת קַטְנוּנִיּוֹת עַל דְּבָרִים פְּעוּטֵי עֵרֶךְ אוֹ עַל כָּל הוֹצָאָה כַּסְפִּית קְטַנָּה יְכוֹלוֹת לְהוֹצִיא אָדָם מֵהָאִזּוּן רִגְשִׁי אוֹ הַמַּחֲשַׁבְתִּי. הַצָּרוֹת וְהַקְּשָׁיִים הַבָּאִים מִיִּסּוּרֵי הַדַּלּוּת אוֹ מֵהַקְפָּדוֹת מֻפְרָזוֹת יְכוֹלִים לְהָבִיא לָאָדָם מַחְשְׁבוֹת שָׁוְא רָעוֹת לְגַבֵּי עַצְמוֹ אוֹ לְגַבֵּי אֱלֹהָיו.
