A spouse is matched to a person only according to their deeds
A person is granted a spouse according to the decree of divine providence, based on their conduct.

הָאָדָם זוֹכֶה לַבַּת זוּג אוֹ לְבֶן זוּג ע"פ הַהַשְׁגָּחָה הָעֶלְיוֹנָה בְּהֶתְאֵם לְהִתְנַהֲגוּתוֹ, טוֹבָה אוֹ רָעָה.
