A belief lacking substance. Belief in certain magical forces that supposedly have an effect on distant things, such as knocking on wood, fear of a black cat, saying 'tfu tfu', and other inventions. Or: fear of 'bad omens' that indicate what is about to happen.

אֱמוּנָה חַסְרַת מַמָּשׁוּת. אֱמוּנָה בְּכוֹחוֹת מָאגִיִּים כָּלְשֶׁהֵם שֶׁהֵם כִּבְיָכוֹל בַּעֲלֵי הַשְׁפָּעָה עַל דְּבָרִים רְחוֹקִים, כְּמוֹ הַקָּשָׁה עַל עֵץ, פַּחַד מֵחָתוּל שָׁחֹר, אֲמִירַת 'טְפוּ טְפוּ' וּשְׁאַר הַמְצָאוֹת. אוֹ: פַּחַד מִ'סִימָנִים' רָעִים הַמְּעִידִים עַל הָעוֹמֵד לְהִתְרַחֵשׁ.
